WordPress Admin Issues. I need help!
« on: December 09, 2015, 19:21:06 PM »
Something is definitely wrong with my WordPress admin on both of my WordPress installs (my main website and the other is just for me to test themes out on - which I should just delete because I don't really need). No idea what is going on or how this could've happened, so I'm currently trying to Google the issue & search on WordPress but I highly doubt that I'll be able to resolve this myself. I'm clueless! I noticed just today while trying to create a new post that several functions are missing and some aren't working. Like 'Screen Options' and 'Help' aren't working at all, they're dead links. Post functions are missing, the Visual Editor doesn't work and I'm stuck on Text Editor and functions are missing (can't insert things like links, blockquote, etc). What could have caused this? This is so weird. I'm not sure when this all started. My last post was on Thanksgiving, and I didn't see these problems then.

Things I've tried and will try again... I switched themes. I've deactivated all plugins too. I can't add a new theme in the WP admin for some reason, another problem in the admin. No idea what else isn't functioning. Geez! What could be wrong? I'm going to have to download a theme manually and TRY to manually upload one to switch themes and try to see if a fresh theme will resolve anything. I really hope that I don't break something and make it even worse.

Seems like WP admin has been acting up on me lately, it hates me. I haven't been successful in exporting my site content files in xml format from the WP admin. I would get an error message. Something that I noticed a few months ago, July or August I think.

Well, I can't upload a new theme manually in WP admin so that I can test a fresh new theme and have all plugins deactivated. I've never used an FTP program like FileZilla, so I'm clueless about using programs like that. I only know WP and cPanel. I'm guessing that I can manually upload a new theme through cPanel, which I've never tried before in the past. I won't try that, worried I'll make a mistake and do it wrong.

The Visual & Text Editor is also not working properly on the Pages too.

Since the 2nd WP install is also having the exact same issues, there must be something going on that isn't theme or plugins related. I don't have any plugins on the 2nd WP install, but I do have the same theme. Maybe something's wrong on your end (the host), perhaps? Or maybe something is wrong on WordPress' end?

YUP! WordPress 4.4 broke everyones website it seems lol. Everyone is panicking in the WP forums about their websites and WP admins. Mostly everyone has similar issues as I had and some are worse than others. It looks like after deactivating all plugins, and turning off Bitdefender Antivirus (which someone mentioned they did in the WP forum which helped them, so I did the same), clearing out my browsers cookies, everything seems to be working like it should now. I hope.

If anyone has had issues with the new WordPress 4.4, then go read the WordPress 4.4 Master List in the WP support forum on the known issues and what to do to resolve the issue. Good luck everyone!
